Using the Burpee Planting Guide as our guide (click here for English or Spanish), we always grow the most seasonally-appropriate veggie transplants. Our “babies” are grown from organic seeds, in organic soil, with organic worm castings and fertilizer. Everything is done lovingly by hand. We sell them in 3½” pots, fully hardened off.

For those of you concerned about your soil quality, here's a link to the University of Massachusetts Department of Plant and Soil Sciences where you can obtain a kit for a complete soil analysis: http://soiltest.umass.edu/ Customers of ours have had this done, and were very pleased with the thorough results and reasonable cost.

Pumpkins

Big Max   * AVAILABLE EARLY APRIL *

120 Days to harvest. For us, this will always be “Dashiell’s Pumpkin”…

Dashiell and his lovely family used to live next door to us. He loved our garden, our dogs, our trucks, the Nursery and the pond. One year we grew this Big Max Pumpkin for him to have for Halloween; a customer suggested we lightly "carve" his name into it when it was small and watch it scar over as the pumpkin grew. Dashiell checked in on it nearly every day. Then we got the sad news that he and his family were moving out of state at the end of October. Just days before their move, we had a little "harvesting ceremony"...it weighed in at 12 lbs. We packed it up carefully, and Dashiell's family drove with it to New York where he kept it for nearly a year!

Big Max has the potential to grow very large – up to 100 lbs. Big, round and smooth, it’s a perfect choice for Halloween carving and holiday decorating. Very thick orange flesh is also excellent for canning and pumpkin pies!
